After the death of a sixty-seven-year-old man this past weekend, the death toll in the Grand Canyon has risen to three people over only the last eight days.

Two of the deaths were a result of a fall, whereas the cause of the first death has not been determined, and is still under investigation by the Park Service. According to the officials at the park, the Grand Canyon typically sees around twelve deaths a year, of a which only a small percentage are due to fatal falls. Park Rangers say that other medical conditions such as heat exhaustion and drowning are more typical killers at the national park.

Officials in the park suggest that in order to have a safe visit to the natural wonder, you must be careful where you travel within the park and you should bring proper provisions with you on your hikes and camping trips.
