On May 20th, 2017, the Manhasset Crew Team participated in the annual Stotesbury Cup Regatta on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. The Manhasset Crew Team truly stood out at this prestigious regatta after sending five boats into the top twenty and four boats into the top ten.  It was an excellent demonstration by Manhasset rowers whose hard work after weeks of training finally paid off.

In fact, the Manhasset Women’s Varsity Eight set a new Manhasset High School record – a time of 4:55 for 1500 meters- and placed fourth overall in the grand final.  In addition, the Manhasset Men’s Varsity Crew Team also had a successful weekend after placing an impressive second in the grand final for the Men’s Varsity Lightweight 8+.  The finish by the Manhasset Men’s Lightweight 8+ marked the first time that a men’s eight from Manhasset received a medal at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta, thus indicating how far the team has come since it first started years ago.

As the season progresses, the team continues to train hard throughout the week in preparation for Youth Nationals in Sarasota, Florida on June 9th, so don’t forget to tune into the live stream to cheer on Manhasset.
