Manhasset Crew Team Takes Part in Scholastic Nationals

This past weekend on May 26th, 2017, the Manhasset Crew Team participated in Scholastic Nationals in Pennsauken, New Jersey.  The Manhasset Crew Team had qualified five boats for scholastic nationals including a Men’s and Women’s Lightweight 8+, a Women’s Freshmen 8+, a Men’s Varsity 4+, and a Women’s JV 8+.  To get to Scholastic Nationals, the Manhasset Crew Team had to place top three scholastically at New York State Championships in April where the Men’s Lightweight 8+, the Women’s Lightweight 8+, and the Women’s JV 8+ all took home a state title.

At Scholastic Nationals, the Men’s and Women’s Lightweight 8+s as well as the Women’s JV 8+ all made it into the grand final at nationals where both of the Men’s and Women’s Lightweight 8+s took home a bronze medal.  This also marked the first time in Manhasset Crew history where a Men’s 8+ took home a medal from the grand final at nationals.

Now, as the season comes to a close, the Men’s and Women’s Lightweight 8+s continue their training for Youth Nationals in Sarasota, Florida next week where the best teams, both club and scholastic, face off in an extremely tense and exciting race.  So tune in next week on YouTube to watch Manhasset go up against the most competitive teams in the nation.
