Halloween was more than just candy and costumes for some. The Manhasset XC teams had to catch their 7am bus to Bethpage State Park for the annual County Class Championships.

Kayleigh Caggiano and Tim Courts

Manhasset swept the meet, producing one of the most dominant performances in school history. The boys varsity team finished 1st of 17 in Class II, beating 2nd place Mepham by a wide margin of 17 points. 9 of the 10 varsity runners earned All-County honors by finishing in the top-25 of the race. Senior Tim Courts stole the individual honors of county champion with an overall 5K race time of 16:33.

Courts’ younger brother Chris (freshman) helped lead the junior varsity squad to a 20 point win as a team, winning the race with a personal best of 18:26.

The girls team had a dominant showing as well, led by individual county champion Kayleigh Caggiano (senior), who ran a 19:22 5K. Five girls earned All-County honors as the team secured its victory.

Manhasset’s top finishers will return to Bethpage this Saturday, November 7th, seeking to qualify for the state championships at Monroe-Woodbury High School in Central Valley, NY.

Nice work, runners!
