Callaway Golf Taking Big Steps

Adam Xiao, Contributor

Callaway Golf took a huge step by signing former #1 ranked Amateur Patrick Rodgers and rising superstar Daniel Berger to its professional staff. These two golfers will join the likes of Phil Mickelson (multiple Major champion), Patrick Reed (Captain America in this past Ryder Cup), Henrik Stenson (2016 Open Champion), Jim Furyk (multiple Major champion), Branden Grace, Kevin Kisner, Danny Lee, Emiliano Grillo, Oliver Schniederjans (also a former #1 ranked Amateur), Danny Willett (2016 Masters Champion), and Thomas Pieters as part of Team Callaway. Also, Rory McIlroy (#2 ranked golfer), starting with the BMW South African Open last week, began using the Callaway Great Big Bertha Epic Sub Zero Driver and Fairway woods, Apex MB irons, and an Odyssey putter. He finished 2nd in the tournament after losing in a playoff to Graeme Storm.

Callaway has also been starting to sponsor colleges since most Division 1 colleges are sponsored by Nike (which has pulled out of the golf industry, except for apparel). Stanford University, for example, is now sponsored by Callaway. Callaway has also started sponsoring a few national AJGA (American Junior Golf Association) events.

I have heard many great reviews about the new Great Big Bertha Epic Driver and cannot wait to test it out over the February winter break at the Callaway Headquarters in Carlsbad, California.
