Jodi Cohen and Dr. Michael Graver

On Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, Manhasset residents Jodi Cohen, 52, and Michael Graver, 65, were killed in a plane crash. Cohen, a Douglas Elliman agent, and her husband, the chief of cardiac surgery at Northwell Health’s North Shore University Hospital, were flying to visit their son in Massachusetts when the tragedy occurred. Reports said Grover was piloting a Columbia Aircraft LC41 propellor plane, and he had been described as a “very experienced pilot.” Grover loved flying, and his hobby occupied many of his weekends.

The two had built incredible reputations both in their respective fields and amongst their peers. Douglas Elliman’s Long Island division has sent out their condolences to the family, along with friends and neighbors. Cohen was known to like cooking, biking, and spending time with her two dogs. A funeral was held on Tuesday, Sept. 18.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash, and, as of Monday, officials had not released a definitive cause of the accident. It has been stated that no one else was on board with the couple, and no one on land was hurt.

The couple would have celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary on Sept. 26.

My deepest condolences go out to the couple’s family and friends.
