9 Students from Mathletes Team Qualify for the Nassau County All Star Team

Yesterday, 9 Manhasset students earned a spot on the Nassau County All-Star team. Only the top 50 scorers in the county were eligible to make the team. These students scored at least 21 total points on the 5 NCIML contests:

Guanming Lin (Junior) – 26 points, T-8 overall

William Peng (Senior) – 23 points, T-22 overall

Bryce Thalhemier (Junior) – 23 points, T-22 overall

Elizabeth Wu (Sophomore) – 23 points, T-22 overall

Fayfay Ning (Junior) – 22 points, T-33 overall

Henry Son (Junior) – 22 points, T-33 overall

Adam Xiao (Junior) – 21 points, T-46 overall

Zachary Leng (Senior) – 20 points (4 contests, extrapolated score = 25)

Alex Glick (Junior) – 17 points (4 contests, extrapolated score = 21.25)

These 9 students are invited to participate in the New York State Mathematics League (NYSML) competition held at SUNY Geneseo on March 16-17. They will also be invited to participate in the American Regions Mathematics League (ARML) competition held at Penn State University on June 1-2.

The Manhasset Mathletes team currently sits in second place overall in the county with a total of 137 points, 7 points behind the leading school, Jericho. Their final contest (a team competition) will be held on February 27 after school in one of the classes in the math wing.
